782. a comment about december 23rd

i've had tough december 23rds before but nothing like today.
i can't keep up with time like i used to, and now i find myself trying to figure out a number of last second gifts before the church bells toll.
and i have absolutely no list or ideas.
i'm working with a blank slate.
and it's like minus 1200 degrees out.
i've already freed the dog twice from being stuck to the ground by frozen pee.

so let dread abound.
nothing better to swing my procrastinatin' butt in gear!

i mean don't get me wrong, i love this time of year.
just love it.

I feel your pain bob. I went out yesterday - it's not minus 1200 but it is cold by California standards - to start and finish my Christmas shopping. By the time I got to Costco all the Christmas stuff was gone. There I was with my short list and what I had planned to buy was no longer available.

I ended up buying movie tickets for the young adults in the family and a Best Buy gift card for one of my brothers. It could have been worse but our family is scattered this year and we won't all be getting together at Christmas.

Now, I have to get back into the kitchen and bake some pies for Christmas Day dinner.

I love this time of year too, it's the procrastination I hate!

Merry Christmas to you and keaton.

thanks for the gift Bob it was something i always wanted.

Give money bob, it goes with everything and they can exchange it for stuff they want.

Merry Christmas to you and your family

I'm so glad we aren't involved in any of the gift giving hoopla. It's very cold here and we are expecting more snow on Christmas Eve so we intend to stay exactly where we are.

Best wishes to you for a happy holiday season. :)

Don't worry, cl, there's always december 24 (in fact we Dutch people started that already, as ever a bit ahead of you).
Wish you a warm and peaceful holiday!

itmecissy - thanks for the wishes and best to you and yours in the coming year!

lightly - great suggestions, if i only thought they'd work but around here i'd be chased out of town. merry christmas and a great new year for ya.

timethief - stay warm and enjoy your holidays! thanks for the visits and thoughts!

marja- it went downhill from the 23rd. keaton broke her pinky falling on the ice while i was on my way to do last minute shopping at 7:30 in the morning. had to come back and get her to an emergency facility. she was told she could not cook. we had 22 mouths to feed on christmas. yours truly manned the knives and took the orders. had to go shopping later in the day to the mall in an ice storm. and to add to this, "comet" my son's dog that i am very attached to is back on his death bed due to kidney failure.

and somehow, it all turned out fine. keaton, worked thru the pinky splint and comet held on thru christmas. and i made al the right purchases. and i din't slice a finger off or drink too much red wine in the process. all in all one memorable 48 hours.

hope all is well in holland and the best to your family in the coming year.
