Doing the right thing

I never know for sure if what ever I'm doing will ever turn out to be the right thing. It's a matter of perspective I suppose. Someone's right is another's wrong. Like the time I said "god bless you" after a woman sneezed  in an elevator. She was an atheist. I could tell because she told me so. That made me think because I tend to be one most of the time too. So I understood her resistance. I mean, even for me to say "god bless you" is a stretch considering, but it just seems to be the right thing to do. I don't even know why, but it does. So now I don't say it at all. I just pretend like I'm old and deaf most the time now and don't get involved. But it seems like the wrong thing to do.

To give you an idea, I probably have fourteen quandaries like this a day. It's a wonder I can still eat oatmeal.

Wow, it's been such a long time since I've read a post from you. It seems many folks have this conundrum these days. I've just shortened my response to a nearby sneeze to a simple "Bless you," and that seems to do the trick. Like many other sayings, this one started back in the dark ages where people believed that a sneeze was an attempt to rid one's body of evil spirits. Love your insight and sarcasm, it's right up my alley.

Hey JL, thanks for the kind words. Yeah, it's been awhile. But the urge hit me to start up again and see what happens. As for the sneeze, I thought it had something to do with that evil spirit stuff, so maybe instead of saying "bless you", I might be more aggressive, like, "Scamper Spirit Scamper!" Yeah, that's a good idea.

I like to say, “Way to cover that sneeze!” Unless of course they fail to cover their sneeze… Then I just run away to avoid being infected, which is hard to do inside an elevator.
