to be a refugee is to live in that margin between nothing and death, the most fragile of places for human instincts of survival to retreat.
instincts ignited by the misdeeds of our darkest nature to wield soulless power over the weakest.
by all measures, 36,000,000 in 2007 and growing with no end in sight.
call it what you will: collateral damage, externally displaced, internally displaced, defensive dislocation.
it is an affront to the human spirit.
an assault on the most basic of human rights.
and as such must be stopped, repaired and prevented.
now.
for if only one is a tomorrow away from the margin, we are all.

This reminds me of a discussion I had with a middle age man who makes a six figure income. He thinks animal extinction is an unimportant issue. I told him, "I'd be careful if I were you. You're next."
First it's the four legged animals, then it's the "animals" who stand upright.
