663. hot, flat and crowded

you can say what you want about tom friedman but the guy knows how to frame a problem.
the planet is getting hotter.
the middle class is flattening across the globe (i.e., it is no longer america's exclusive domain).
the world population is growing at a rate that this hot, flattening planet can not sustain much longer.

the future is e.t. (i.e., energy technology).
and the countries who get their first, will be sitting in the resource seat.

as for america, we've been floundering since 9/11.
we probably have one more presidential term to right this.
and given the partisan politcal plates rubbing up against each other in congress, it is likely that it will be a seismic event that signals we are too late.
