(from the files) 458. "five year old kills bear"

that is the yahoo tag line: "five year old kills bear".
so once again i got sucked in and read the article.

it turns out a 5 year old did kill a bear.
i'm thinkin', in "bare hands"—that would be remarkable.
no, he killed it with a shotgun.
he was hunting with his grandfather.

now the problem is that doesn't strike me as remarkable.
i tend to think it just goes to show that with a big enough weapon even a five year old can kill a bear.
then i saw the kid sitting atop his trophy kill, and i thought, something is wrong ... very wrong ... what did the bear do?
it's akin to a month old cub mauling my grandfather to death, although if you knew my grandfather, he probably did something wrong, albeit unintentional.

I thought so too. It was really sad seeing that little boy with the dead bear. I don't get how this is a good thing in any way.

It turned my stomach. Really good lesson to teach you kid...Be a man..kill a bear...Hey, then go read him the three little bears! And put him to bed with his teddy bear... YUCK!!!
