and last but really first, keaton, whom i’m beginning to suspect will become a famous mermaid some day, and i’ll be able to tell people i knew her, albeit when she was burdened by legs, air and land.
i think that pretty much covers it for this year.

My "thank you" list is fairly simple. Family is top on my list. Next comes their good health and mine. The rest is a daily gratitude list. I'm so blessed to be able to do the things I did at 16 and can still do them (smarter, not faster) even at 67. Last, but certainly not least, are the fun and loving connections I've made at places like Cranelegs Pond. Thanks, Bob.
I saw someone today with a seeing eye dog and felt so fortunate to be able to visually scan the enormous, beautiful blue sky, green grass, and all that nature has to give. It's tough to imagine what it would be like to lose my eyesight. Yet another reason to be thankful.

This year I'm thankful that deep down most people are still basically good at heart, and deep, deep, deep down the rest of them probably are too. I know that’s not a normal “things I’m thankful for” top ten list item, but I think it’s important to mention. Although it’s not as noticeable as it used to be, I still believe that people are basically good. Like gold in a stream it that “goodness” seems to sink a little deeper every year, but it’s still in there, and you never know where the next shiny piece may be lurking. So keep smiling at strangers, and saying hello to your neighbors. If you just keep dredging eventually you’ll find a little nugget, and someone will smile back. Happy Thanksgiving everybody! …and don’t give up on each other.
