393. longing for the days of the id bracelet

well, alix (i.e., my pseudo step daughter) is “in a relationship” (according to her facebook wall page thingy), which is the modern way to say she is “going steady”, which is the old fashion way to say she is “in a relationship”, except "going steady" required the girl to wear the boy’s id bracelet, which guys don’t wear anymore, which means girls are left with the facebook wall page thingy, which i think is pretty pathetic, which makes me pretty much an old fart, which reminds me that i should find my old id bracelet and give it to keaton, except she probably doesn’t think that’s cool anymore and won’t wear it in public and work, which pretty much ruins the whole idea of “don’t even think about it buddy boy because i’m spoken for and if you have a problem with that then you can just take it up with robert h. crane because that’s the boyfriend contact name on this tarnished silver id bracelet i’m wearing—just in case you’re wondering”, which used to work just fine until the internets were invented, which is why i voted for ralph nader and not al gore, which is a whole other can of worms.

anyway, that’s what i’m talking about, which is probably why alix and my son don’t talk to me about such matters anymore because my logic is as airtight as a diving bell.

Hee hee.. I'm with you! ID bracelets were sorta pre-class ring, which were pre-pre-engagement, which were pre-engagement... now everyone is so damned serious and having sex by the time they're 12 years old. It makes me sad. :(
