whenever i fall prey to my optimism in the ability of humans to use reason, i watch washington journal on c-span.
it only takes the comments of about eight random callers, split among democrat, republican and independent lines, to snap me back to reality.
americans remain an eclectic group of conspiracy theorists, irrational party hardliners and frankly, bigots.
when will i learn that there are way too many numb-nuts running about for me to even occasionally feel hopeful that reason will triumph again some day.
