a nose full of nickels

i was up at cranelegs pond yesterday with annabel, our yellow lab.
i spotted an old nickel on the ground while searching the water for a sign of that monster bass who ate a whole goat, or so i've been told by wee dickie upwright who lives across the way.
so i picked the nickel up and was reminded how my grandmother always used to say, i wish i had a nose full of nickels.
and then how my mother used to scream at me, ya know i can take you back to the lunatics that made you, every time I shoved a few up my nostrils.

i was always gettin' mixed messages like that.
